ddclient is a convenient way to update your dynamic IP machine to DNS servers like dyndns or namecheap.
Installing it is easy but when I ran the diagnostic,
ddclient -daemon=0 -debug -verbose -noquiet
I got an error
ddclient WARNING:unable to determine IP address
While some DNS service has its own way of determining your IP, some don't. In order to do this on your own, go to config,
gedit /etc/ddclient.conf or gedit /etc/default/ddclient
Then add
use=if, if=eth0
I know this is simple as it is in the manual but on my first use, I encountered this problem.
